Work Completed

The work included in the 2014 MFT Street Resurfacing project within the Estate Lane Neighborhood and other Village streets is substantially completed at this time. There are only a few minor repairs that still need to be performed associated with landscape restoration, concrete curb & gutter repair, and other miscellaneous items. We anticipate these repairs to be made within the next few weeks prior to the end of the construction season.

This will be the final blog post of the 2014 MFT project, including the Estate Lane Improvements.

Estate Lane Improvements Nearly Complete. Minor Items Remaining

Estate Lane Improvements:

Last Week:
·         Asphalt paving of surface layer
·         Damaged concrete curb & gutter removed.
·         Grading and installation of topsoil.
·         Asphalt patching performed in areas that shows signs of failure
·         Completed most of the sod restoration.

This Week:
·         Complete Sod Restoration
·         Concrete curb & gutter that was damaged and previously removed to be installed.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as the work is coming to an end. Hopefully you are satisfied and happy with the improvements that were made within the neighborhood.

Landscaping to Begin Next Week. Asphalt Binder Installed.

Estate Lane Improvements:

Last Week:
·         Arrow Road completed grading and shaping of the existing roadway.
·         Arrow Road paved the asphalt binder layer
·         Landscape restorations scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 11th 

Next Week:
·         Following completion of landscape restoration, the final asphalt surface layer will be installed. 
 
Thank you for your patience as you dealt with the construction over the past few weeks and inconveniences that come with this work. As the landscaping is completed, the end of the project is near.

Asphalt Paving Next Week

Estate Lane Improvements:
Last Week:
·         Suburban Concrete completed the installation of concrete sidewalks and curb & gutter.
·         Arrow Road installed the asphalt driveways.
·         Arrow Road completed the pavement removal / milling along the project site 

Next Week:
·         Arrow Road to perform roadway grading and preparation work prior to asphalt paving.
·         Arrow Road will complete the asphalt binder layer along the entire roadway, scheduled for Tuesday.
·         Landscape restoration, depending on weather conditions.

With the asphalt paving scheduled for next week, the major construction is nearing completion. We ask that you do not park along the roadway during the grading and paving operations.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during the entire construction process, especially those residents who were unable to access their driveways for an extended period of time during the concrete work.

Concrete Work on "Inner" Circle Completed. "Outer" Circle to Begin

Estate Lane Improvements:
Last Week:
·         Suburban Concrete was on-site removing and replacing concrete curb & gutter and sidewalks along the “inner” circle.
 
Next Week:
·         Suburban Concrete is anticipated to be on-site Tuesday starting the concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk replacement along the “outer” portions of the neighborhood. It is anticipated the concrete work will be completed by the end of the week.

Similar to the residents last week on the “inner” circle, the residents on the “outer” circle will experience the same process and need to keep their cars out of their driveways. Residents that will have restricted access to their driveways will be notified prior to the work beginning. Residents will also be instructed on where to park.

Concrete Replacements to Begin Next Week in Estate Lane

Estate Lane Improvements:
Last Week:
·         Contractor on-site saw-cutting in preparation for concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk replacement.
Next Week:
·         The concrete subcontractor, Suburban Concrete, is anticipating to begin the concrete sidewalk and curb & gutter replacement on Tuesday.

The contractor will be performing the concrete replacement on one side of the street, then moving to the opposite side of the street the following week.  During the concrete work, some residents will not be able to access their driveways during the concrete removal, installation, and curing process. Residents that will have restricted access to their driveways will be notified prior to the work beginning. Residents will also be instructed on where to park.

Concrete Removal and Replacement on Estate Lane in the Near Future.

·         No construction work completed on-site.
·         Engineering staff was on-site throughout the week performing lay-out for concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk removal and replacement. 

Next Week:
·         Depending on work progress, contractor scheduling, and weather, the concrete contractor may begin removing and replacing concrete sidewalks and curb & gutter marked-out.

Chatham Road Improvements Completed

·         Partial pavement removal and replacement (MARS) at various locations within the Village including:
o   West Lake Avenue
o   Lehigh Avenue
o   Chestnut Avenue
o   Glenview Road
o   Fir Street
o   Evergreen Terrace
·         Chatham Road from Glenview Road to south end:
o   Existing pavement removal
o   Asphalt patching
o   Paved new asphalt surface 

Landscape Contractor
o   Installed topsoil and seed along Covert Road and Huber Lane.

Work Remaining to be completed:
·         Partial pavement removal and replacement along Central Road
·         Landscape restoration at southeast end of Chatham 

Estate Lane Improvements:
Last Week:
·         American Underground, the sewer televising contractor, cleaned and televised remaining section of existing storm sewer.
·         Humir Construction, the underground contractor, started storm sewer repairs.

Next Week:

·         Humir Construction to continue working on storm sewer repairs. It is anticipated that all underground work will be completed by the end of the week.

Concrete sidewalk and curb & gutter repairs are not anticipated to begin until after the Labor Day weekend.

Partial Pavement Removal and Replacement along Various Roadways to Continue Next Week.

o   Independence Avenue

Anticipated work next week includes:
Arrow Road (Roadway Improvements):
·         Partial pavement removal and replacement at various locations within the Village along arterial roadways including:
o   West Lake Avenue
o   Lehigh Avenue
o   Chestnut Avenue
o   Central Road

Landscape Contractor
o   Installing topsoil and performing cleanup work on the previously paved sections of Covert Road and Huber Lane. 

Thanks again for your patience and understanding as we rehabilitate several roadways within the Village. We apologize for the delays and inconvenience this work causes to daily traffic.

Once the partial pavement removal and replacement along the arterial roadways is completed, a majority of the work associated with the 2014 MFT project will be completed. The remaining items to be completed include the asphalt resurfacing on Chatham Road, various landscape restorations, and other miscellaneous items. The 2” asphalt removal and replacement on Chatham Road is scheduled to begin later this month with Nicor Gas finishing their work on Chatham by the end of next week.    

However, the work along Estate Lane is just beginning. It is anticipated that underground utility cleaning and repairs will begin in the next 1 to 2 weeks. The blog posts will continue to inform those residents of the construction progress along Estate Lane, but that will be the only consistent work.

Work in Glen Lake Estates Neighborhood Continues

Work Completed last week:
Suburban Concrete (Concrete Improvements):
·         Due to the amount of rain received this past week, Suburban Concrete was not able to begin work on Covert Road or Huber Lane.  The concrete work on these 2 streets will take approximately 2 weeks to complete, so it has been decided to postpone this work until after the July 4th weekend.
Arrow Road (Roadway Improvements):
·         Public Library parking lot south of Glenview Road:
o   Installed new asphalt surface layer
o   Completed pavement marking
·         Glenlake Estates Neighborhood
o   Milled existing asphalt pavement
o   Performed asphalt patching of driveways where concrete curb & gutter or sidewalk repairs were made.
·         Partial pavement removal and asphalt paving as part of the MARS program along:
o   Strawberry Lane:  between Maple Leaf Drive and Winnetka Road
o   Indian Ridge Court: Indian Ridge Drive to North cul-de-sac
o   Maple Leaf Drive: between Pfingsten Road and Strawberry Lane

 Anticipated work next week includes:
Suburban Concrete (Concrete Improvements):
·         AFTER THE JULY 4TH WEEKEND, begin concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk replacements along:
o   Covert Road from Washington Road to Michael Manor
o   Huber Lane from Central Road to northerly cul-de-sac.
·         Residents will be notified prior to concrete work on your street. Details will be given regarding timing of the construction and access restrictions to your driveways.

o   Installing new asphalt surface layer on July 2nd and July 3rd, weather permitting.
o   Continue asphalt patching of driveways where concrete curb & gutter or sidewalk repairs were made. 

As you can notice, the primary objective next week is to complete the work that has been started prior to the July 4th Holiday. Following the holiday weekend, construction along other streets will begin.
